You will know right away if PCLinuxOS works with your hardware. This also gives you the ability to run PCLinuxOS from the CD to get comfortable with Linux before considering replacing your existing operating system or setting your computer up in a dual boot mode. If you like PCLinuxOS you can easily install it to your computer using the easy to use Installation program.
PCLinuxOS comes fully equipped with just about everything a desktop user would want in an operating system. Browse the web, send and receive emails, chat with friends on Yahoo, MSN, AOL and IRC. Play games, listen to music, share files, rip CDs and watch videos. You can also burn CDs, DVDs, import, view and edit pictures. Our office suite allows you to write letters, do spreadsheets,drawings and slide presentations. Everything you can do with that other OS you can do in PCLinuxOS without worrying about virus infections, adware or spyware.
PCLinuxOS provides thousands of RPM software packages that are easily installed using apt-get with the Synaptic frontend. The Synaptic Software Manager provides a single frontend for installing, updating and removing software from your PCLinuxOS system. Updating your system is easy as 1- Reload file list, 2 Mark all updates and 3 - Click apply. It doesnt get any easier than this!
Internet Suite
Internet, Email, instant messaging, and more! PCLinuxOS includes The Mozilla Firefox Web Browser and Thunderbird Email Client. Kopete Instant Messenger allows your to chat with friends on Yahoo, MSN and AIM.
Complete Open Office Suite
PCLinuxOS comes with a complete Open Office suite for word processing, spreadsheets, drawings and slide presentations.
Digital Photos
Digikam is a pre-installed photo managment program that allows you to download, organize, edit, and share your entire photo collection. Easily connect your digital camera to your computer and import all of your pictures with a few mouse-clicks. In addition to Digikam, PCLinuxOS also includes the powerful GIMP image editor.
Digital Music
Manage your favorite tunes with Amarok, an all-in-one music player built into PCLinuxOS. Burn and rip your favorite music with Audio Creator. Fileshare through Frostwire.
Custom Live CD from your Install
PCLinuxOS comes with mklivecd GUI, a nice utility to build a custom live CD from your install. Install or remove what you want then remaster your own cd. Great for backups or to give to friends.
Web Publishing Tools
PCLinuxOS includes Nvu, a powerful, easy-to-use web design program that is open-source. Anyone can create web pages now, even those with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.

Please note: PCLinuxOS does not ship with Win32 codecs or DVD decryption software, although these can be easliy installed. Proprietary NVIDIA and ATI drivers are included and available after hard drive install.
Hardware Requirements:
Processor: Modern Intel or AMD processor.
Memory & Storage: RAM : 512 MB minimum, 1 GB recommended.
Hard Disk: 4 GB minimum, 10 GB or more recommended if you plan to install additional software from our repository.
Video Card: nVidia, ATI HD 4000 or better, Intel (3D desktop support requires a 3D instructions set compatible card).
Sound Card: Any Sound Blaster, AC97 or HDA compatible card.
Other: DVD drive required (install media is supplied on DVD).
